This is only a drop in the ocean of love I will bestow on you of which I'm sure,
My mind cannot fathom the feelings of the future; until then they will grow even more.
So many possibilities, so few years that can flash by in an instant.
Your not here yet but from first breath on, I don't want to miss a moment.
Who knows what tomorrow may bring but when it brings you I'll never want the day to end.
What will you be like? When will you come?
Uncertainties abound but I'm sure about one.
You'll be precious far beyond any rare gem,
Our bond once formed not one shall condemn.
The moment your life begins, what becomes of mine?
I would lay down my life for you in an instant of time.
A promise to my unborn children, wild and rash some may say,
But what you'll mean to me between now and then, will only grow and never fade.
I don't know if this has been overlooked but I think the only thing we could say is thank you for sharing this. It is an honest and well-intentioned piece (and they are not my words but they describe it best). TJ
ReplyDeleteRegarding the above, I don't want anyone to misread it. It is not saying: 'good try, better luck next time' as I appreciate it may have come across this way. Your poem sparked a really interesting conversation... Males and females secretly (mostly) want the same thing so why is there so much misunderstanding? Lack of honest communication due to fear? Simply in posting the above, you show a bravery that you are not afraid to share with others some of the more sensitive issues.
ReplyDeleteMy further thoughts only. I could be wrong. TJ
